Original starter wouldn't engage when the engine was cold, it would spin but not mesh gears, pulled it and supplied power and the gear would spin and not pop out. Borrowed a starter from a friend, push started it and got it to his place to install the starter and it worked. Next day, same thing on the borrowed starter. I took mine and got it rebuilt and the shop looked at it and told me the clutches were worn and didn't allow the gear to pop out. So I install the new rebuilt starter and same thing, just spinning. However, if push started and the car warms up it will start the car without issue, but if it sits for more than 6 hours it will only spin again. Battery is in good condition and fully charged, terminals are clean and have solid connection. Here is a video of the sound when it occurs.
